Even though most people write off the story of boggle-eyed cannibals as nothing but some fantasy fit for the big screen, this movie was in fact based on the real-life actions of a group of people in Scotland, said to have captured and eaten hundreds of unsuspecting travellers during their time active. It’s hard to tell how much of this is legend and how much is true-either way, the audiences lapped it up, sparking sequels and remakes galore.
