Everyone, to some extent, grew up with a certain collection of favourite movies as a child. Whether it was something weird that your parents decided to pass on, or something you saw in the cinema when you were three feet tall and never forgot, the nostalgia surrounding kid’s films is a powerful thing. But, more often than not, your favourite movies from childhood get shoved aside in favour of more grown-up fare and never get watched again. But there’s no shame in indulging in a bit of hardcore nostalgia from time-to-time-so we’ve compiled you a list of amazing children’s movies that you might have seen when you were growing up that deserve another shot. Get ready to knuckle down with some childhood sweets, fish fingers, and a whole heap of “I can’t believe I didn’t watch this before now!”. And number six is a perfect slice of nostalgia for anyone who grew up with a twisted sense of humour…

1. Muppet Treasure Island

How could you ever have forgotten about this masterpiece? By far the finest ever outing by everyone’s favourite mechanical puppets, this musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel is packed full of amazing songs and some very adult humour you probably missed the first time round. You’ve got to love Tim Curry’s campy turn as singing antihero Long John Silver, while you’ll likely find yourself blown away by the gorgeous visuals of Caribbean islands and sparkling oceans. The kind of thing that you know you’re probably going to be watching for the rest of your life, this masterpiece is more than a kid’s movie-it’s just a downright brilliant bit of filmmaking.
