While any film that takes on the London glam-rock scene of the seventies always runs the risk of taking it oo far and turning into a ridiculous, peacocking parade of glitz and ugly glamour, Vevlvet Goldmines mostly avoids that trope. Standing now as more of a fascinating look into a piece of history that’s rarely seen documented or fictionalised so well, Tony Curtis’ feature works better know in a world where much of the sexual freedom and androgyny has come back into style. Possibly even better now than it’s ever been.
