10 Movies Made For $100,000
9. Primer
Shane Carruh’s time traveling head-melter is a rare example of a dirt cheap science fiction film. Made for just $7,000, Primer became an instant cult classic. But how did Carruth keep costs to a minimum? Easy–he did everything himself. Not only did he write and direct the film, he also starred in it, edited it, and designed the film’s time machine himself. Admittedly the last one isn’t that impressive since the time machine is just sort of, a box. The film was modestly successful compared to others on the list as it still made back over 400% of the budget. Not too shabby for a film that you have to have a degree in theoretical physics to understand.
