9. Big Fan
Big Fan is a film like no other- the ugly side of sports fandom. And while that not sound like the most instantly enticing way to sell a premise, there’s a lot more to this than meets the eye- and most of it comes from the central performance of Patton Oswalt as Paul, a man so obsessed with his fandom of the New York Giants that it stops him bringing one of their players to justice after he assaults him. There’s an underlying sadness to what is often a slightly goofy farce, and it sets the film apart as completely unique.
