Till James Cameron out done himself with Avatar, Titanic was the most successful film of all time. It was the first film ever to reach a billion dollars gross, and with its re-release in 3D it reach a whopping $2.18 billion gross. It was also the second film, again after Avatar, to reach the $2 billion gross point. Not bad for a film that many thought would sink just like its subject.
