14. The Emperor’s New Groove
The Emperor’s New Groove is a bit of an anomaly in the pantheon of Disney movies up until this point. The film has very little of what you might expect from a Disney film. No standard Disney princess, no talking animals (except one, but we’ll get to that), so much so that it’s easy to forget about. But as is usually the case with Disney, when they try something new it is always rewarding. So The Emperor’s New Groove is a masterfully gag heavy film which subverts Disney’s own playbook by having the male protagonist cursed for once. Well it was due.
