12. Gattaca
Andrew Niccol’s brand of streamlined science fiction fables have never been given enough love over the years. His 1997 film Gattaca is a prime example. Starring Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, and Jude Law (in one of his first major roles), Gattaca tells the story of a society obsessed with manipulating people’s genetic code. This was an oddly telling premise as in the coming years where moral arguments arose over being able to genetically choose the sex of your own child.
