Linklater’s second appearance on this list is also one of his most loved films. Dazed and Confused is a mostly plot-less hang-out movie, and a kind of spiritual child of George Lucas’ American Graffiti. It tells the story of the many different personalities of a high school graduating class from the summer of 1976. The film has gained a strong cult following and, for a film about the past, is considered one of the best modern high school movies.
