14. James Spader
James Spader hasn’t had a career of ups and downs, more like fits and spurts. Of all the actors and actresses on this list, Spader’s career has been the most varied. Since his eighties heyday, Spader has gone to more challenging lengths to distinguish his career, and been successful too. His film career has enjoyed blockbuster success (Stargate), independent acclaim (Sex, Lies, and Videotape), so really weird ones (Secretary, Crash), and catching performances in Oscar bait (Lincoln). He has also prospered on television with his multiple award-wining role as Alan Shore on Boston Legal and currently stars as a cunning serial killer in The Blacklist. There is also the small matter of playing Ultron in the next Avengers movie. Take that, Karate Kid.
