10. Kung Fu Hustle
Turning up in 2004 amongst such grand epics as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers, Kung Fu Hustle was a welcome departure in to the modern martial arts landscape. Directed, written, produced by and starring Stephen Chow, Kung Fu Hustle is a labor of love and a welcome antidote for all the seriousness of the period films of the time. None of this based on an ancient legend stuff for Chow. No, instead of Yojimbo, you got a Tarantino gangster plot with comedic action sequences. A great reminder of how fun these movies can be.
