The film that made Tony Ja and his brand of Muay Thai martial arts famous Ong Bak is a modern classic. Ja’s electrifying fighting style, with his acrobatic kicks, makes the viewer feel every move and contortion he makes as if it were their own. The plot is a classic fish out of water yarn as Ja’s elects himself to go on a cross country mission to recover the head of a Buddha statue. From this, admittedly thin premise, a martial arts franchise was born with two popular sequels to follow.
