10 Ass-kicking Martial Arts Movies
9. Yojimbo
Akira Kurosawa is one of those directors that was so good he will still be remembered in a hundred years. His ground-breaking films introduced many a westerner to the gifts of Asian cinema. His two best films are arguably Seven Samurai and Yojimbo, and it’s Yojimbo that makes the list. A film so cool Sergio Leone took its template to create A Fistful of Dollars, the original man with no name was a wandering samurai. Throughout the film this samurai uses all his skills to rid a village of two violent gangs, which is the very reason it just edges Seven Samurai: with Yojimbo, Kurosawa showed what his lone warrior could do.
