10 Classic Horror Films That Are Still Scary
3. Pet Sematary
This film is rotten, rotten to its very core. Based on the Stephen King novel (which is the novel that scares the great writer the most) Pet Sematary is a film about the horror of grief and spitting in the face of death. The film introduces us to the Creeds, a family who have moved into a house, beside a main truck road (asking for trouble) and just down from a creepy Indian burial ground (Oh c’mon!). Death is the enemy here, and in Pet Sematary it can, in a way, be beaten. Your child is heartbroken by the death of a family pet. No problem- just resurrect an evil version of it. Parents are shattered by the death of a child… you know where this is going. Pet Sematary scares us because it shows us what would happen if we tried to play God. And if you’re still a cat person at the end then you’re made of steel.
