Though it’s difficult now to imagine any other actor playing the characters we see today, there were many others considered for the roles. Uma Thurman landed her iconic role as Mia Wallace only after Halle Berry, Isabella Rossellini, and Meg Ryan had been put out of the running-and Pam Grier originally auditioned for the role of Jody, the drug-dealer’s girlfriend. Tarantino thought she was too strong for such a role, and eventually wrote the title part in Jackie Brown for her.
