4. Moon
Before Moon, director Duncan Jones was only known as David Bowie’s son, and star Sam Rockwell was still a jobbing character actor. What these two created together, helped by a robot voiced by Kevin Spacey, was one of the most astounding science fiction films of the last 20 years. Made on a microscopic budget, Moon is essentially a one (or two) man show, as Rockwell’s character comes to the end of his service on the moon base, things start getting very strange. For anyone who hasn’t seen it then it’s best to go in knowing as little as possible, you won’t regret it.
