6. The Addams Family
The Addams Family is where all great horror fans start out-a bitterly dark and utterly hilarious flick that clashes a few distinctive and campy performances with gorgeously gothic visuals. Incidentally, this is also where Christina Ricci got her break-as the terrifying pubescent Wednesday Addams, she steals the show with her deadpan delivery and genuine sense of threat. A brilliant ensemble all round, both this and the sequel will more than live up to your expectations-though you’ll be trying to guess who exactly thought this was an appropriate children’s movie in the first place.
