9. Batman Beyond
Suggested around the time when the Batman: Year One scripts were making the rounds, Batman Beyond, based on the acclaimed follow-up to the even more acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series. With a script from the series writers Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, it would have been the first Batman film without Bruce Wayne wearing the cape and cowl. Unfortunately the project got crowded out by the studio’s focus on Year One. So the ultimate fan boy dream of a Batman running around a Blade Runner landscape will have to wait.
