2. Hellraiser
Depending on how much or how little you rate Stephen King, Clive Barker is, at the least, the undisputed prince of horror fiction. And his surreal novel The Hellbound Heart (which introduced the world to the truly horrible cenobites) found it’s way onto the big screen in under the now-iconic guise of Hellraiser, with a script penned by Barker himself. It’s scary, violent, and the effects still hold the power to scare even all these years later. A true horror classic.
