7. The Tenant
Let me see if I can get this right- The Tenant, directed by and starring Roman Polanski, is based off a French novel entitled La Locataire Chimerique. Did I say it right? Either way, the film is a weirdly disturbing mix of thriller, black comedy, and dreamlike half-wakefulness, following the exploits of a young man who finds his apartment worming it’s way further and further into his mind after the last tenant attempts suicide there. The movie also marks the final entry into Polanski’s Apartment trilogy (after Rosemary’s Baby and Repulsion).
