2. John Carter
The eldest in the family of Disney live action failures, John Carter never had a chance to become a tent-pole movie. The film itself isn’t that bad, but it’s confusing marketing campaign, the drooping of the cooler original title (you put any name in a sentence that ends with “on mars” and you’re on to a winner), the depressingly poor performances of all of Taylor Kitsch films before the release. Seriously, this guy should come with a financial health warning (although, admittedly, even if he was Christian Bale, Battleship would still be bad). With reported losses of over $200 million, Disney gleefully ignored the consequence and made The Lone Ranger.
