4. The 13th Warrior
An R rated movie based on a novel titled Eaters of the Dead starring that other guy from Assassins are all the ingredients one needs to make a box office hit. Right? This is what director John McTiernan thought in 1997 when shooting The 13th Warrior. Sorry John, you were dead wrong. The film, which was above anything a vehicle for Antonio Banderas to capitalize on his growing fame, did poorly at the box office. With an estimated loss of $98 million, it was one of 1999s biggest flops.
