2. Nightmare on Elm Street
After all these years the scariest thing about Nightmare on Elm Street is that it’s a giant bloody warning that Johnny Depp is not convincing as a real human. Aside from that Wes Craven’s blood soaked monster and Freud wet dream, is about the villainous Freddy Kruger. A child molester who, after his murder by the parents of Elm Street, enters the dreams of their children to murder them while they sleep. While the film has dated a bit, it is still equal parts atmospheric horror, and a gleefully hilarious gore-fest.
