3. Suspiria
Dario Argento’s first instalment of the Three Mothers Trilogy, Suspiria is also the best. Set in a ballet school in Frieberg, American student Suzy Bannion (played by Jessica Harper) investigates a series of murders connected to the school. Notable for its use of lots and lots of blood and a brilliantly creepy soundtrack from Argento’s band The Goblins, Suspiria has become one of the most loved and shocking (the room filled with razor wire, the bloody deaths at the start), horror films of all time.
