9. The Stepford Wives
Not only is The Stepford Wives a dismal film, it was also a huge flop that lost Paramount millions of dollars. The film is a remake of the Bryan Forbes film of 1975, which itself was based on the novel by Ira Levin. The remakes director, Frank Oz, re-imagined the film as a bawdy comedy of the sexes. Starring remake poison Nicole Kidman (Bewitched) and Mathew Broderick (Godzilla), with a supporting cast that included greats like Christopher Walken and Kathy Bates. Star power was not enough to save this flop which damaged Oz’s career as a director.
