Top 12 Movie Franchises Coming to the Big Screen in 2015
11. Ant Man
Ant Man is set to be the twelfth installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Schedules for release July 17, 2015, the film is still in the stages of pre-production, but should begin filming principal photography mid-2014.
The film is based on two Marvel comic book characters by the same name, Scott Lang and Hank Pym, which will be played by Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, respectively. Marvel Studios will produce the film, distribution by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish will be writing the screenplay, and Wright will be the director. Ant Man has actually been in the works since the 1980s, but the release of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids prevented it from coming to fruition.
Due to the microscopic nature of the world that Ant Man can shrink down to, getting ready to film has required much research and study of nanotechnology on the writers’ parts. The script itself has gone through rewrites and changes many times.
This has been one of those films that has been in concept form for a very long time, but is just now coming together for the big screen. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas are set to play roles that will be new and challenging for them, and the digital photography for the movie is expected to be quite advanced. Comic book fans are sure to be psyched for this one.
