Top 12 Movie Franchises Coming to the Big Screen in 2015
13. Fifty Shades of Grey
The first part of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy that shocked the world just last year is set to be released in the box office on February 13, 2015, just in time for Valentine’s Day. No surprise there.
The film is going to star Jamie Dornan as the elusive and mysterious Christian Grey, with Dakota Johnson playing the role of naïve and innocent Anastasia Steele. The books are a toned-down version of the BDSM genre, and fans should expect more of a romantic movie than an actual kink-fest.
Sam Taylor-Wood will be directing the film, with the series author, E.L. James, having handpicked many of the writers and producers ahead of time. Kelly Marcel, screenwriter of Saving Mr. Banks, got the distinction of being the screenplay writer for the first film.
Due to the controversial nature of the books, the movie can be expected to garner just as much, if not more, negative excitement surrounding its release. As it goes with these things, the more certain groups condemn a film or book, the more curious previously apathetic people will become. The film can be expected to perform remarkably, even though the quality of the books themselves were not anything special.
Merely the scandalous nature of the film is going to bring people to the theater in droves, and we can expect both single and married women to want to take part in the phenomenon that is Fifty Shades of Grey.
