After their resoundingly triumphant adaptation of the “unfilmable” Cloud Atlas, Lana and Andy Waschowski return to delight with some more sci-fi confections. In this world, humans are the lower class and Mila Kunis is their destined saviour-leading a genetically modified Channing Tatum (swiftly shedding his “hot guy” skin) on a mission to save her. If this movie guarantees one thing, it’s visual mastery- after the ground-breaking beauty of The Matrix and the breath-taking visuals of Cloud Atlas, this one looks like another slice of wonderful populist science fiction. For those looking for a slightly more clever blockbuster this summer.
