5. A Long Way Down
Anything starring any actor from the esteemed (whisper it) Breaking Bad’s casting room has almost instant commercial appeal, and A Long Way Down is no exception. Featuring a performance from BB’s Aaron Paul, it follows the tale of four people who intend to commit suicide but wind up stopping each other- with fascinating results. Throw in some Pierce Brosnan (who’s having yet another one of his late-career revivals at the moment, it seems), some extremely competent direction by Pascal Chaumeil, and some solid source material in the form of a novel by Nick Hornby, and you’ve got a quirky hit on your hands.
