“Ah,” you think, “John Hurt is a highly respected and appreciated actor the world over-surely everyone would be keen to keep him on their screens rather than hustle him off them”. Wrong. Hurt and his appropriate surname seem to constantly get knocked off, whatever roles he chooses-from the latest adaptation of Tinker, Tailor Solider, Spy to V for Vendetta, he’s screwed. He even dies in the BBC miniseries I, Claudius, where he plays tyrant emperor Caligula. Can’t catch a break.
