The Marathon Man is a name that makes many people cringe just on hearing it-so imagine what Dustin Hoffman went through actually filming it. In preparation for a particularly intense scene, Hoffman reportedly stayed up for two whole days to seem appropriately twitchy and on edge-to which he co-star Laurence Olivier reportedly said, “why not try acting, dear boy-it’s much easier?”. I think I’m on side with Olivier on this one.
