Hands up if you guessed which play as soon as you read the heading? Yup, this tale of star-crossed lovers comes courtesy of Romeo and Juliet. Except, instead of warring families it’s warring street gangs, and everything’s resolved by belting out a sensational show tune instead of rapier battles. Well, mostly. And, thank goodness, the ages of Romeo and Juliet have been upped-from seventeen and fourteen to something that resembles acceptable. It’s romantic, tragic and dramatic-and even features the presto-marriage scene.
