10. A Nightmare on Elm Street
In a film about dreams, it seems appropriate that the original ending should have had Heather Lagenkamp waking up from the movie-long nightmare to discover that all the horrible murders she envisioned were just a dream (honey, see a therapist). The studio pointed out that this left no room from a sequel-so a few other endings were grafted together into the one we see on screen today. Which, as you may know, did allow for a few sequels.
