Clerks, Kevin Smith’s debut feature, became one of the biggest indie hits of all time and launched his career as an indie auteur for the masses. But it might how have gone down so well had it stuck with the original ending, in which Dante is shot by armed robbers. This would have closed the door on the sequel which proved to be just as good as the original-and Smith admitted the ending was only in place because he couldn’t think of another way to finish off the film.
