5. Dawn of the Dead
At the end of the movie that you probably saw, Peter and Francine consider committing suicide before resolving to leap into a helicopter and do what they can to help the human race against the zombie outbreak. The original ending however-which was changed very late into production-actually had them committing suicide, with Francine sticking her head between the chopper blades and Peter shooting himself. The end credits would continue over the helicopter which would slowly run out of fuel, showing that they never would have made it anywhere anyway. Grim? Sure, but when was Romero a walk in the park?
