6. The Avengers
Right, before I’m carried off on a mob and burnt at the stake, let me get this straight-this is a fine blockbuster. But it is not brilliant. It is another superhero movie in a slew of superhero movies-it’s just that this one has more than one hero in it. It’s entertaining enough, but slow at points and inconceivably expensive to make when you look at the end result. Comic book movies can be excellent-this one is an example of hype that got far, far out of hand and never deserved the critical praise it got.
