8. Slumdog Millionaire

Mainly because it was directed by Danny Boyle, who no-one is allowed to dislike by law, Slumdog Millionaire is a pretty average film that found itself wide-eyed in the glare of hundreds of awards and reviews claiming it was “the feel-good movie of the year”. Well, feel-good it ain’t-harrowing, disturbing and violent, there’s not much here to leave the viewer with a warm glow. And since it’s release, it’s been soundly forgotten, proving perhaps that it wasn’t that big a deal in the first place.
