When we’re talking rock operas-and let’s face it, no-one truly, truly doesn’t like a rock opera-we must look to Tommy for all-seeing guidance on the matter. Following the story of the titular Tommy as he works through his struggles in like and, um, beats Elton John at pinball, we go sailing through an incredible array of songs by The Who written expressly for the movie. This is the highest of high camp, but also impossible not to get swept up in and intensely fist-clenching all the way through.
