4. The Conjuring
Most people know by now that the opening sequence to The Conjuring featuring a haunted doll are based on real events, and most people know that Ed and Lorraine Warren, the ghosthunters at the centre of the story, are based on real life counterparts as well. But not everyone is aware that the events depicted in Harrisville are also based on true events-drawn for the recordings and writings of the Warrens, it makes the already terrifying film that bit more chilling.
