5. The Mothman Prophecies
Based on a novel of the same name written by the character Richard Gere plays, The Mothman Prophecies purports to be based on the true story of when a small town began having premonitions of an impending disaster. How much of the book is true has often been contested-but the film’s depiction of the sinister events leading up to the catastrophe is very nearly perfect. Chilling, and all the more weird when you consider a number of the townspeople backed up the author’s tale.
