Australia’s premier slasher export, Wolf Creek, was in fact loosely based on a true story. While the film depicted some lost backpackers being taken in by a seemingly kindly stranger who turns out to be everything they’ve ever feared, the real story revolves around a British and Australian tourist who were picked up by a hitchhiker killer-the story went around the world, going as far to inspire this film and it’s equally brutal sequel.
