8. The Wizard of Oz
Ah, The Wizard of Oz. Subject to hours of stoner analysis and Judy Garland fans, it’s the ultimate in cheery, weirdly dark and incredibly surreal musicals from the thirties. And, as Dorothy Gale (get it? Gale?) arrives in Oz for the first time, she utters the immortal line “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore, Toto”. Right? Wrong. Garland actually says “Toto, I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more”.
