5. Captain Barbossa
I strongly consider Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl to be one of the finest family movies ever made, and part of that is down to this performance. Geoffrey Rush is, for all intents and purposes, A Serious Actor, so to see him shaking his beard, chewing the scenery and cackling as immortal pirate captain Barbossa was almost too much fun to bear. Also, he had a little zombie monkey, and frankly that’s just inspired.
