6. Sweet Home Alabama
While this might be a little saccharine-sweet for some people’s taste, if you’re a fan of the idea that “home is where the heart is” then this film is really for you. Reese Witherspoon takes off to the big city to find the man of her dreams-but before she can marry him, she has to her ditch back-home beau. It’s an interesting take on the basic idea of “little-girl-in-the-big-city”, and no characters come off as worse than the others-it’s just clear where Reese belongs from the start. It’s cannier than your normal romcom.
