7. Superman
With Man of Steel the big disappointment of last year (so pompous), it’s worth remembering a time when Superman really was a hot commodity-that is, in 1978. Barelling an unknown Christopher Reeve into superstardom as the titular fella, it meshed excitement, family-friendly thrills, and plenty of wonder into a hefty runtime. It established what Superman was for decades to come. And Margot Kidder wasn’t half bad, either.
