8. World War Z
Now, I know a lot of people (read: me) wrote this off as a damp squib of a blockbuster as soon as they heard of it, but stick with me here. The big budget has gone into all the right places, creating incredible setpieces and more zombies that you could shake a dead stick at. Brad Pitt is excellent and when the movie winds down for it’s subdued final act, there’s a surprising amount of tension in the air. And you might want to read the book, too-totally different from the film but just as brilliant in it’s own way.
