It’s hard to imagine that, before Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson was a cult director who made hilariously gory B movies in his native New Zealand. His biggest hit before he took up residence in Middle earth was the little seen cult favorite The Frighteners starring Michael J Fox. Then, the one ring burrowed into his mind and 14 years later Jackson is responsible for two Hobbit filled franchises, a slew of Academy awards, and financial success, with both Hobbit installments breaking the $1 billion mark at the box-office.
