4. Noah
The Bible so counts as a book, even if Darren Aronofsky read the cliff-notes and did whatever he wanted to anyway. The film stars Russell Crowe (and his beard) as Noah. We all know the story: man speaks to God, God warns of coming destruction in the form of lots and lots of water, man only lets two of every species on bored. While the film makes Noah look like the cruelest nightclub bouncer ever, the film is a fascinating journey into the mind of the director.
