6. The Spirit Stuck
The spirit stick, which is a key plot element for the movie, is actually a slim, hollow object that was light enough to throw around and be dropped without causing any damage. The scene in which Dunst dropped the stick was actually overdubbed with the clanging concrete noise as the stick was actually dropped on a carpet, meaning it wouldn’t have shown up on the soundtrack.
