We can see Cliff studying chemistry in one of the scenes-and, as per usual for any copywrited material used in a movie, the credits confirm that it was cleared for use by the author. In fact, the book doesn’t exist-but the author does! The director credited his Assistant Prop Master as the PhD who wrote the book-look very closely in the credits next time you’re watching the movie and you can see his name when the copyright comes up.
